Welcome Students and their Families,

I am very excited to be your math teacher this year.

This 2019-2020 school year is my second year here at Monte Vista Middle School and it has been a pleasure to work with such amazing students, as well as part of such a remarkable team of educators.

I was a high school math teacher for several years before I joined the world of middle school last year. As I will probably mention in class, I was not a great math student when I was in school. Even today I can sometimes find myself stuck on a complicated math problem but I truly believe that success in math is not dependent on intellect but rather a willingness and drive to crack puzzles and solve problems.

When I am not teaching I am usually outdoors. I grew up in the Mid-Western and Southern regions of the United States in the time when phones were attached to the wall,  and the TV only came on for the nightly news and Saturday morning cartoons. I am a dog mom to several furry faces (I am an avid Doberman Pinscher fan). And also have been riding horses since I was a child, so many of my evenings are spent at the barn.

I also love to travel and explore both locally, as well as far off destinations. This 2019 summer I completed a road trip to all of the National Parks in California, and made a detour to Crater Lake in Oregon. To date I have visited 49 of the 50 United States (Alaska, I am coming for you!) and 13 foreign countries.

But my favorite adventure is the one I get to watch my students explore every day as they discover the depth of their own abilities
